@EdGhidora5532 Actually it IS Steve Stevens. Go to Amazon.com and type in "Top Gun Soundtrack" in the search bar and you'll find the page for the official Top Gun Soundtrack CD. You'll notice that the artists credited for the theme song are Harold Faltermeyer and Steve Stevens, NOT Van Halen. I've seen many people make that same mistake.

@BOKNOWSCOMPUTERS your argument is flawed. Your conclusion is based on your subjective judgement that van halen's 'tapping' cannot be imitated. First of all, that is not true. Van halen is an excellent guitarist, no doubt. But i'm sure there are many guitar prodigies that are inspired by him that would beg to differ from you that they can tap just like he can. Secondly, and most importantly, I believe that the record company that produced this material (as well as the artists who wrote it)

And just as i told the other gentleman, you are welcome to look up every cd cover made of the album from which this song came and you will see that Steve Stevens is credited for the song. And here's a brain teaser for you: Why would a record company credit a lesser known guitarist (Stevens) for the work of a much more marketable, mainstream name like Eddie Van Halen? I believe I have fully stated the case that this is NOT Eddie Van Halen.

@snipermagoo While i think that would be hilarious, i always find it more enlightening to me and to those around me to be able to defeat an argument with logic, reason, and most importantly, EVIDENCE. When one simply argues ad hominem (personal attack, mudslinging, "you're full of shit", etc.), one does not effectively prove his own argument, leaving him open for other personal attacks that have just as much validity as one's own mudslinging because no real proof has been provided.
