@butcheR1834 The song has nothing to do with math. It's about a government (Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany, contemporary China) brainwashing its people with lies about what is real and what is not. When truth is so corrupted when even the most basic fact (the math equation 2+2) is twisted beyond recognition. Apart from the political connotations of "2+2=5", it's also a similar philosophical concept.

@superclaydude Or it could be that theres 2 groups of beats, one has two beats but the other has 3. If you take the two groups (2 + 2) and add them together it would be a group of 5. Thats why it stands for 2 + 2 = 5. Maybe both, but thats what I used to think when I were a young las.

@peaceOnEarth28 Alright I'll give it to you that this is quality music, but I think that any of the pop stars you mentioned are still artists. You may not enjoy them but their music may not feel like it has a lot of substance to it but it still means something to many many people and it maybe the only way people get into having fun and opening themselves up to the world. I think that still qualifies what they do as art.
