Ray Davies is the best songwriter England has ever produced, not Lennon and McCartney. They were undoubtedly more prolific and wrote some great songs but stack up their best work one on one with Ray's best and he wins hands down.

@TheKalaxis Don't forget Dave! He did a lot aswell! Its a shame they've fallen out.

zylaurz @ Sep 18, 2011

rachelsquire22 @ Sep 20, 2011

@zylaurz I'm Dave! But don't call me Dave

Numlocq @ Sep 21, 2011

Ray Davies the most underated songsmith I can think of. This amazing song says it all, it cant be faulted. Musical perfection. Noel gallager would be proud to write a song like this. End of story

stokermcd @ Sep 22, 2011

How does this have so little views?

bonchasilark @ Sep 23, 2011

This is a song that really touches my heart! On the one hand, it brings back happy memories of my youth, and my parents who are no longer here, and on the other, now, being older, the words are just so poignant and beautiful. It's one of those very rare songs that can make me both smile, and want to shed a few tears! Keep rockin' Ray!

firefox39forever @ Sep 25, 2011

donelliottay @ Oct 9, 2011

It was 2 years from yesterday that my uncle passed away from ever so many cancers. I sit here now and then and listen to this song, and all the good times come back to me. It's nice to have happy tears sometimes.

RiffMan14 @ Oct 16, 2011

plum69tv @ Nov 4, 2011

Oh my. It reminds me of the woman I use to love, who had to leave for another country and we never met again. I still mourn and cry over her.

Hi, we are a band that are heavily influenced by the kinks! If you could please spare 2 seconds to listen to a band that are still trying to play real music then check us out at our channel. Or fb /theshakedownproject Cheers, ok back to the sweet Kinks

ShakedownProject @ Jan 21, 2012

Everyone has these sentimental and touching moments when they first heard this song. I heard it on an episode of Mongrels...
