Mr. Wade was inspired to write the song by the death of a 16-year-old friend in an auto accident. The commercial dramatizes the issue by showing a highway crowded with cars - filled with teenage passengers - that suddenly disappear. "Every year, nearly 6,000 teenagers go for a drive and never come back," says the actor Dennis Haysbert, the Allstate spokesman. He asks the parents watching the spot to "start the conversation" with their teenage children about driving safely. Whether it's god, evolution, or simple chance, we are here. And in this life we are thrust, we find people. the measure of a life is not in how they live, nor is it in how they die. the measure of a life is the people around them and how they react. Will people weep for you when you are gone? Will people cheer when you succeed? Those who have lost know what i am speaking of. I simply hope people realize when something precious has been lost, when it is ok to be "unmanly" and feel wretched.

@mikemaciasz I've been going through the same thing for almost 9 months. On August 8th I lost my boyfriend, Charlie Martin. He was only 19, and also died after a solo accident on his way to work. My heart goes out to that family and her boyfriend. Praying! ♥

@reutooot yea because only ONE person knows what its like? dont pretend you're the only one of anything because who had the most tragic story only pisses people off so instead enjoy the song and try to relate to people. Awesome song.
